I LOVE cooking and experimenting with new recipes, reading, and traveling to new places.

I develop the overall Marketing Plan for the Association and oversee its execution. I am also responsible for all marketing related campaign and promotion intiatives deployed by the organization. The ultimate goal of my position and department is to increase the number of families that are exposed to the YMCA so that the organization can live out its mission - to put Christians values into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
One was to be a journalist and the other was a Business Executive.
What was the best course in school you took that helps you today?
High school: English. English is very important to someone considering a career in Marketing. You must be able to write and communicate with others, this inludes both written and verbal communication.
I love to travel, so I do that as often as I can.
Don't consider money when selecting a career. Do what you love. Think about some of your favorite hobbies and figure out how to make that a career. Passion is what makes you successful, therefore spend sometime examining what you're passionate about - and start there when selecting a career. Understand also that nothing beats a great education. The two together, passion and the education (the higher the better), are a very powerful combination.
Your favorite book to read over the summer?
I typically use the summer to read books that are interesting to me. Of course because I'm in Marketing, they usually skew that way. However, I'd recommend selecting at least three books to learn more about your area of interest and committ to reading them over the summer.
If I could offer you one piece of advice it would be to really work hard at being a good person. You don't have to sacrifice your character or morals to move ahead and you shouldn't. Stay focused, prepare yourself through formal training/education, always give your best and be someone that people can trust and rely on and success will find YOU!

- I believe I said I wanted to be a veterinarian
- As much as I hate to admit it, my Speech class! I had a great communications professor. I learned a lot in that class.
- In the evenings, I like to read before I go to bed. I read different kinds of books. Some are self-help, some are fiction and for pure entertainment. My favorite books to read are detective/murder mysteries. My favorite author of these types of books is Janet Evanovich. She writes about a bounty hunter named Stephanie Plum and her escapades. The author throws in humor along with solving a murder. Otherwise, for fun I go to watch the Astros play. I play golf. I go to movies.
- The average person will have five different careers in one lifetime. Try and think out of the box and find something that is your passion. Make your passion your career. Then it won't seem like work at all.
- Anything by Janet Evanovich!

Research the career you are considering and interview people in those fields. It is important to truly understand as much as you can about a career before spending the time and money pursuing a degree that gets you to your goal. It is good to volunteer to work at careers you are considering to determine if your choice is right for you. I also recommend you honestly review your strengths and weaknesses to determine if you have the innate skills to go the distance. Ask for help, counseling, guidance and you will receive it.
