My job is to handle all the marketing related activities that the company does. My role also extends to creating business development practices for the company as we expand worldwide and start looking at our customers as accounts rather than one off jobs.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a lot of things when I grew up. For the most part, I wanted to be a doctor (until I realized I couldn't stand the site of blood) and there was a point in my life where I aspired to be the first female president.
What was the best course in school you took that helps you today?
Probably marketing and management if we are talking about graduate school. If we are talking about anything before college, I would say math and sciences. Critical thinking is crucial to success in my industry.
When I do have free time, I watch TV, read, follow the stock market and spend time with my family. Because everyone in my family is independent and successful, we don't spend much time together due to everyone's busy schedule.
If you intend on getting a degree in a non-technical field, you need to figure out how you plan to make money after graduation before committing to
that degree. So many people get degrees based on something they love, but fail to determine what it is they can do with that knowledge and then are
stuck with a job they hate. It's like the saying goes, find out what you love doing, and then figure out a way to make money doing it.
Your favorite book to read over the summer?
Geez. I haven't found a book I want to read yet. I am so busy reading the books that I am required to read for school!

I LOVE to read! LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Trust me, if you read.. you will do better in grammar, spelling and writing and you will not even have to try! Reading takes you away to places that you may never have a chance to visit, it takes you back in time to places you may have loved had you lived back then. Fall in love with reading early on like I did and you will have a hobby that you can take with you anywhere!
A Dancer on Broadway but, once I started to fundraise for the Jerry Lewis Telethon at 8 years old ( I was even on TV).. I was hooked on raising money and helping those who cannot help themselves! I still love doing it even more today (after 31 years) than I did back then!
English! But, I had a special LOVE of Communications & Creative Writing/Reading. Hands down.. the most important classes for my field! Although math also comes in handy (that was not my favorite subject) I do use all my English skills! I also actually really loved my required reading in school. The books are classics and even though I may not remember every line, I remember how they made me feel when I was done reading them!
I have 3 dogs and I love to be with them. I am also an advocate for PETA! They help save animals who are not being treated well and also, raise lots of money to find them good homes. I also love to play sports! Soccer and cycling are my two favorites.. I love to compete, but just for fun !
Follow your heart. Everyone says that.. but if you do it, you will NOT go wrong, no matter what you decide to do! And, my mom taught me the very best lesson.. "Whatever you choose to do, do it the best you can"
Find something that you can picture yourself doing for the next 40 years because you are going to have to work for many many years before you can retire and spend your time.. reading all day! :)
I love to read biographies and autobiographies. I love to read anything about anyone who overcomes anything!
When I was in elementary school I wanted to be a veterinarian because I loved my dog, Spot, but in high school I got into acting and thought about pursuing a career in theatre or moving to Hollywood to act. Before I graduated high school though, I caught the "money" bug and decided acting was too risky and in order to make money I needed to speak a foreign language and study business. I ended up at the University of Texas in Austin with a degree in Spanish and Business.
French. When I took French, for the first time in my life, I found something I was REALLY good at and that's speaking a foreign language. By studying French, I learned that I could also pick up on Spanish easily too and that led me to getting my degree in Spanish and then on to living in Madrid and Barcelona Spain.
I spend as much time with my two kids, Sky (6) and Dlaton (2) as I possibly can. Together, with my husband Chris, we all just have a great time playing outside, swimming in our community pool or taking trips to see friends and family.
Do something you LOVE and you'll be really good at it. NEVER burn a bridge and regardless of who you meet along the way, respect each person equally. You never know who will be your boss one day and you never know who might end up being your employee. And...who knows, you may end up going into business for yourself and when you own your own business you need to have the respect of EVERYONE you meet.

My proof classes in math which helped me develop my critical thinking and problem solving skills and of course my computer science courses. My writing classes also helped, because being able to write is important no matter what career you are in.
Shop, read, and watch tv
If possible, go into something that you are passionate about. It helps if you know someone in the career you are interested in. You can ask them questions or follow them on the job for a day.
I like legal thrillers, Dr. Oz's You books (they are so informative!), and romantic comedy fiction books.
In high school I got involved with the Sierra Club. One of the first projects I did was picking gypsy moths off infested trees. It was really rewarding knowing we were saving these trees from being killed by the moth infestation and made me aware of how much we need to get involved in being guardians of nature. At that point, I decided I wanted to be an ecologist or somehow involved with the environment. I still pay very close attention to environmental concerns and do what I can to support local and national organizations involved in safeguarding the future of the planet.
I think that English was the most useful class. We really had the opportunity to explore a variety of storytelling forms in both fiction and non-fiction and I realize now how important my understanding of the storytelling process is in what I do.
I enjoy making jewelry, reading, sea kayaking, playing with my dog and watching movies.
Some kids know exactly what they want to do when they grow up but I think that most people don't really know. The challenge is to be able to pay attention to what you really enjoy, what makes you feel the most happy doing, and the things that you do very well, and then explore career opportunities that involve those activities and skills.
My favorite style of book to read while I'm on vacation is a historical fiction. I love the tension of a good fiction and like learning historical information and facts while I'm reading.

Research the career you are considering and interview people in those fields. It is important to truly understand as much as you can about a career before spending the time and money pursuing a degree that gets you to your goal. It is good to volunteer to work at careers you are considering to determine if your choice is right for you. I also recommend you honestly review your strengths and weaknesses to determine if you have the innate skills to go the distance. Ask for help, counseling, guidance and you will receive it.
My summer reads include classics like Pride and Prejudice.

My English classes were probably the most beneficial because they taught me how to communicate by reading and writing effectively.
I like to play with my daughter, Lauren, drink wine, read books, travel and go on long walks.
It is okay to not know what you want to do when you get older. Keep trying out new things and keep an open mind. You may have to eliminate a lot of things you dont like before you find what you do.
Right now I am reading The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver and I am loving it!
